ABOUT

Who I Am

My name is Nate Place, and I am a junior at Furman University. I am double majoring in History and Communication Studies (Media Studies Track). Although I was born in in the town of Ravenna, Ohio, I was raised in Murfreesboro, North Carolina, and consider myself a Southerner. I graduated from Ridgecroft School in 2020, and as a result (along with millions of other unfortunate souls) had an objectively terrible senior year. During the lockdown phase of the COVID-19 Pandemic, I found that sport was really the only thing preventing me from quite literally losing my mind. This experience, along with my time at Furman, has led me to want to become a journalist.

What I Do

Although a good portion of the content you will find here will be centered around sport, you will also find some content related to society and politics. My sociopolitical outlook could most easily be described as “conservative-leaning libertarian,” and my Christian faith has a great deal of influence on my outlook as well. If you are looking for click-baiting, patronizing rage against the Liberal Media, I would advise you to consume content elsewhere. But if you are looking for well thought out, rational commentary on sports, society, and politics, then this is the place for you.
